Enrichment Opportunities Beyond the Classroom

Extracurricular activities are an essential component of Silver Oak’s Academic Model™ program. Studies have found that participation in certain extracurricular pursuits significantly reduces a student’s risk of dropping out. Silver Oak students have the opportunity to participate in high school-sanctioned sports, intramurals and over twenty campus clubs. These activities help students develop leadership, teamwork and communication skills that can be applied to other areas of their lives.

Unique Opportunities

Silver Oak students participate in MPSSAA-sanctioned sports which include football, basketball, cross country, lacrosse, wrestling and track & field. Intramurals offer every student the opportunity to play a team sport of their choice and to develop coordination, communication and leadership skills.

Expanding Horizons

Silver Oak students have attended Baltimore Ravens games, have gone on field trips to Civil Rights landmarks and toured the African-American Museum in Washington, DC. When students learn and grow with these new experiences, they envision a brighter vision of success.

Leadership and Excellence

Silver Oak students are encouraged to pursue excellence in and out of the classroom. The “RAMs Club” (the Student Council) enable students to model excellent behavior, and academic proficiency. Silver Oak’s JROTC empower students to pursue excellence through practice and participation in community events.
