Wellness Policy

Silver Oak Academy promotes health students by supporting wellness, good nutrition, and regular physical activity as part of the total learning environment. Good health optimizes student academic performance which contributes to all children reaching their highest potential. A copy of the current Wellness Policy can be accessed here.

Silver Oak Academy also recently participated in the Maryland Wellness Policies and Practices Project (MWPPP) in response to the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act (HHFKA) of 2010. This Project is a statewide initiative to enhance opportunities for healthy eating and physical activity for Maryland students.  The Project conducted an extensive review and evaluation of Silver Oak Academy’s Wellness policies and we are pleased to report that Silver Oak Academy’s Wellness policies outperformed the State of Maryland’s overall average in both Comprehensiveness and Strength. A copy of the full WellSAT 3.0 report for Silver Oak Academy can be accessed here.

Silver Oak Academy welcomes participation by the general public and school community in the development, implementation, review and update of the Wellness Policy. If you are interested in participating in this process please contact the Program Director at 410-775-1745.
